Usage of leaf material of Zingiberaceae plants in traditional medicine was found to be very meagre. This study was intended for screening of antimicrobial activity and detection of antimicrobial compounds of essential oils extracted from the leaf material of three selected plants, Alpinia speciosa, Curcuma longa and Zingiber officinale. Gas Chromatography High Resolution Mass Spectroscopy (GC-HRMS) followed by TLC-bioautography was used for the detection of compounds possessing antimicrobial activity. The highest essential oil yield was observed in A. speciosa (0.58%), subsequently C. longa with 0.56% of yield and Z. officinale with 0.24%. Antimicrobial activity was performed with Kirby-bauer disc diffusion and broth dilution methods and significant antimicrobial activity was observed with all three test essential oils. However, the extent of activity was considerably varied among the oils. Potential antimicrobial activity was observed with A. speciosa oil followed by Z. officinal and C. longa with reference to the positive controls 10 µg of Gentamicin and Ketoconazole. The activity of all three test oils against the yeast strain Candida albicans was significant and zone of inhibition ranged from 14.7±0.58 to 29.7±0.58 mm. Gram positive bacteria were inhibited more significantly than gram negative bacteria by the three test oil. Citral, eugenol, α-terpineol, eucalyptol, methyl cinnamate and linalool, etc. are detected as principal antimicrobial compounds in the essential oils.

To assess the effectiveness of Acacia Arabica in the treatment of gingivitis. A literature review was performed using PubMed, Wiley Online Library, QUINTUB, IJIRAS, Aihbonline and Research Gate by using Acacia Arabica and gingivitis. According to Prisma guideline the mesh terms were altered to search engine. All 5 articles showed positive effects of Acacia arabica in gingivitis. Statistically significant improvement in gingivitis was found using Acacia Arabica in the form of gel and powder. In the available literature application of Acacia Arabica in gingivitis is effective and it acts by reducing the inflammation in the process of healing gingivitis.

Dendrocalamus asper (Schult.) Backer is a large shrub native to Asia, Africa, and the United States that is also cultivated in Egypt. Total phenolics, flavonoids and antioxidants in different fractions showed that the ethyl acetate extract has the highest content 20.95 ± 1.29 GAE (Gallic acid equivalents) and 19.65 ± 0.77 (quercetin equivalents) with antioxidant 64%, respectively. HPLC analysis of D.aspera extract revealed presence of 14 and 11 phenolic acids and flavonoid compounds, respectively. Pyrogallol, Coumarin and gallic acid have been determined as 3981.7, 1139.8, and 1135.1 mg/100gm in the extract of D. asper extract, While Kaempferol - 3-2-p-coumaroylglucos 4046.4 mg/100gm was the most predominant compounds in the extract of D. asper extract, Phenolic acids and flavonoids tentatively identification depends on comparative with standard compounds in Rt. In vitro and in silico studies antioxidant activity was evaluated by using spectrophotometric using DPPH. MTT assay was used for cytotoxicity evaluation. Pet. ether fraction showed strong cytotoxic activities against A-549 cell , PC-3 cell and CHO-KI carcinoma cells with IC50 values 12.5+05 , 13.9+08 and 15.3 + 1.2 µg/ml, respectively.

Vyadhikshamatva or Immunityis the ability of the body to fight against various Nija and Agantuja roga. This is an extraordinary gift to the living organisms by Almighty to fight against various diseases and disorders. Immunity (Vyadhikshamatva) prevents the genesis of the various new diseases and also resist the proliferation of nearly all types of the infectious organisms that can cause a damage to the normal physiological body functions. Kapha in the normal state is called as balawhich is Sehaj, Kalaj and Yuktikrit. Vyadhikshamatva depends upon the Bala and Oja of the individual. Skin, mucous membrane, tissues, lymphatic system, blood stream and reticuloendothelial system plays a crucial role in the defence mechanism of the body. A good and sound defence mechanism depicts a healthy life. Various drugs having an antioxidant, body rejuvenating and immunostimulant properties are extensively used to boost Vyadhikshamatva and keep human body healthyin the present scenario. Ayurveda is considered as a hub of such drugs, formulations and definite principles which can enhance the Oja and Bala. Rasayna , Dincharya , Ritucharya , Aharvidhi ,Pathyapathya etc. are the basis of a sound and healthy life. Balanced diet and a healthy life style are the key factors for sound health as they ameliorate the quality of Bala. Sound health, effective defence system of the body, longevity, quality of the life and mental health depends upon the Oja the Bala of the body i.e. Vyadhikshamatva .
