The growth of Phaseolus aureus (green gram) was assessed in the intercropping filed along with Jatropha curcas. The root growth, shoot growth, number of pod per plant, biomass dry weight and number of nodules were observed. In the field the result incited on green gram shoot growth as compared with control plant. The stimulatory effect was highly significant as compared with the control plants. A maximum of 7% stimulatory effect was noticed. Unfortunately, the root growth was inhibited in field study, which was recorded nearly 4% as compared with control root growth. Finally in field experiment results revealed that the stimulatory effect on shoot growth, number of pod per plant, total grains yield, biomass dry weight and root nodules number on Phaseolus aureus intercropped with Jatropha curcas.
Clerodendrum inerme is a medicinal plant reported to be used for the treatment of skin diseases. Venereal infections, elephantiasis, asthma, topical burns nd rheumatism. The plant possesses high medicinal potential. Fractionation of ethanol extract of roots of Clerodendrum inerme was done and antifungal activity of the fractions was assessed against microorganisms, Monascus ruber, Aspergillus Niger, Aspergillus fumigatus and Candida albicans by disc diffusion method. The ethanol extract showed antifungal activity against Monoscus ruber comparable to Standard clotrimazole.

Erigeron Karvinkianus DC is also known as Mexican fleabane, is a prominent weed distributed all over the Ooty, Tamilnadu, India, where no extensive studies were carried out, but having many good secondary metabolites so the plant is selected for current research. Objective: The present research is focused to dothephytochemical and a cytotoxic investigation of Erigeron karvinkianus DC. Two flavanoids namely Naringenin and 7- Methoxy Hesperetin were isolated first time from this weed. The total saponin fraction isolated was subjected to LCMS analysis and found to be having calenduloside E and leiocarposide along with unknown saponins. The isolated compounds and total saponin fraction were subjected to in vitro antioxidant screening using DPPH and ABTS assay, in vitro cytotoxic screening using SRB (Sulphorhodamine B) assay. The isolated compounds have been docked into the catalytic domain of topoisomerase I (1K4T, 3AL2) and topoisomerase II (1ZXN, 3QX3) using GLIDE integrated Maestro 9.3 version. A good amount of secondary metabolites like alkaloids (191.20 μg/g atropine equivalents) flavanoids(149.68 μg/g quercetin equivalents), phenolics (91.96 μg/g Gallic acid equivalents) and saponins (33.7%w/v) are identifiedfrom this plant. Among the various metabolites present, Naringenin and 7- methoxy Hesperetin (6.3% w/w and 2% w/w) are isolated from this plant first time using flash chromatography. The compounds showed good results in in-vitro antioxidant and cytotoxic screening. The current research may give a platform to develop dual topo poisons, where there is a current demand in this area of cancer research.
Leaf explants cultured on MS medium supplemented with a combination of 2,4-D(5mg/l) + KIN(2mg/l), NAA(2.5mg/l) + KIN(2.5mg/l) and NAA(5mg/l) + KIN(2.5mg/l) produced stock callus after 20-28 days of inoculation. The induced callus was creamish to bright green in color and friable in nature. 50% methanolic, 90% methanolic and aqueous extracts were prepared for polluted and non-polluted sites from both leaf tissue as well as callus to find out the difference between the extraction efficiencies. 90% methanolic extracts were found to have maximum extractive value. Extraction efficiency in case of polluted samples was higher than the non-polluted samples. The observations indicated higher amount of secondary metabolites from callus cultures raised in vitro than leaf extracts. The results were statistically analyzed by one way ANOVA and found significant at p ≤ 0.05.
Extract of various herbs like Kultha, Gokshru, Varuna and Palash have great potential to cure renal abnormalities. When taken collectively, corrects the renal system and prevents the process of calculi formation.
